WHAT
IS HYPNOSIS?
Hypnosis is a very pleasant relaxing state of mind in which analytical
left brain activity is temporarily suspended. This state
of mind occurs naturally in our daily lives as moments of rest
and 'daydreaming' such as when reading a book or listening
to music. The student, who gazes dreamily out the window oblivious
to the calls of the teacher, is another familiar example.
Why use hypnosis?
The application of hypnosis provides
an optimal environment for working with the 'psyche'. In the state
of hypnosis you can bypass the analytical mind so that all thoughts,
memories and ideas may be freely explored. This allows you to
get to the core of a problem directly and quickly.
Free-association in hypnosis is a dynamic thorough method of
addressing psychological problems.
- Reveals the unconscious conflicts and feelings at the source
of the problem/ symptom.
- Hypnosis helps you deal with negative experiences from a position
of calmness and clarity.
- Integrate resolution at the subconscious and conscious levels
of your mind.
IS A PERSON IN HYPNOSIS ASLEEP?
Hypnosis may look like sleep but the person in a trance is mentally
and emotionally processing information within their subconscious.
He or she is in a state of deep contemplation and therefore the
body becomes very relaxed and limp, taking on the outward appearance
of being asleep.
CAN A PERSON BE HYPNOTISED AGAINST THEIR WILL?
No. Contrary to popular misconceptions about hypnosis, a person
enters into a trance through their own impulse.
HOW
DOES A PERSON KNOW IF THEY ARE IN HYPNOSIS?
A person knows they have achieved the hypnotic state when they
are aware of feelings/thoughts without trying to control them.
Like the attainment of any skill, the ability to go into deep
hypnosis becomes easier with practice.
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HYPNOSIS AND OUR USUAL STATE
OF MIND?
In total conscious awareness, the analytical left brain rationalizes
and censors the thoughts in our mind whereas hypnosis bypasses
this sifting and organizing process presenting thoughts and feelings
in their raw state.
