What does hypnotherapy treat?
Suggestion Therapy is useful in overcoming habit problems ie. excessive eating, smoking, nail biting etc. It is also useful for transforming negative thinking and building confidence through the repeated application of acceptable positive suggestions. However, if anxiety is driving the person to indulge in their habit, hypno-analysis is necessary in order to locate and remove the root cause of that anxiety and uncover the unresolved issue(s) in the client's psyche. See hypno analysis.
Suggestion Therapy
The subconscious mind can be compared to the hard drive of a computer, where various programs are stored, directing the functioning of the computer and determining what it can and can't do. Since negative thinking and habit desires, have their foundations in the subconscious, hypnosis provides an excellent means of locating and removing destructive programs. The hypno-therapist can then guide the client in the process of creating positive programs that will actually benefit him/her.
Hypnoanalysis
Hypnoanalysis is solution-focused, brief psychotherapy which should help you to achieve considerable results in an average of eight to twelve sessions, depending on the nature of the problem. The utilisation of hypnosis as a therapeutic tool speeds up the analytical process as memories and feelings are recalled easily . Sometimes awareness of unpleasant thoughts etc. can be experienced, but with the skills of an ethical hypno-therapist, the hypnotised client can be taught how to successfully release and transform these negative feelings. On completion of hypno-analysis, the client should experience an increased autonomy and self-confidence, enabling him/her to deal with the stresses of life much more effectively.
